Susanne Brandherm studied interior design at Detmold University of Applied Sciences. After holding various positions in interior design offices in Cologne, she founded brandherm + krumrey interior architecture in 1999 together with Sabine Krumrey, whose office in Cologne is managed by her. Susanne Brandherm received the INsider Award 2013 and the German Interior Design Award 2019 from the Association of German Interior Architects (bdia) for her work. In addition to her design work, she taught at Trier University of Applied Sciences from 2013 to 2015 and currently holds a teaching position at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, PBSA. She has been a member of the board of trustees of the architect@work Germany trade fair since 2012 and has held various jury positions for architecture awards since 2016.

Susanne Brandherm has been an honorary board member of the Karl Bröcker Foundation "Future for Children" since 2002.
