The largest temporary furnishings store, imm cologne, opens its doors to the broad public from 18.-20.1.2019 at Koelnmesse. In 11 halls building developers, renovators, design lovers, bloggers and other passionate furnishers can discover new trends, furnishing ideas, paints, materials or furniture for the private home. Over 1,200 exhibitors from 50 countries will be presenting inspirations for every room and every style, from the cocktail stool to the living landscape, from minimal to vintage, from basic to high-end, from the night lamp to the smart home.
But how to plan one’s costly time during the trade fair visit and how can one find exactly what one finds interesting? With just under 250,000 square metres of exhibition space it is almost impossible to see all of the offers in one afternoon. That is why the trade fair makers have divided up the furnishing ideas into eleven segments. These are distributed over several halls and several levels. The trade fair guide, which is available free of charge in the entrance areas and at the info points, provides a good overview.
This is where to find your new home: Interior worlds point the way
Home lifestyles and product ranges will be on show in all their diversity across eleven halls: from elegant lifestyle brands and on-trend design labels in the classic design segments Pure and Pure Editions, to intelligent interior solutions for young, trend-aware homes in the Smart segment. They are accompanied by Prime (featuring classic furniture from all categories in the home) and Comfort, which presents the entire spectrum of seating furniture. Visitors can study the functionality and aesthetics of furniture for a good night’s sleep in the Sleep hall. And Global Lifestyles will take them on a journey through internationally attractive markets. Decorative lighting, soft furnishings and accessories inspire excitement for interior design.
Hip labels and premium brands of the international design world
The Pure segments will showcase the best of the best. Original drafts of internationally renowned designers as well as newcomers (as a tip we mention here the Pure Talents Contest Exhibition) will be presented alongside exclusive new products and the holistic living concepts of leading brand suppliers. Since the well-known design labels are tending more and more frequently to show their new furniture in staged rooms or in colour and material collages, an endless amount of design ideas for one’s own home is offered – i.e. almost like a walk-in living magazine. In addition to the participation of big and small German brands, lifestyles from abroad are also strongly represented here. The representatives of the trendy Scandi Chic and the Italian brand manufacturers are particularly strongly and diversely represented.
A platform for furnishing know-how and a “Haus” (almost) without interior walls
The lecture forum “The Stage” in the Pure Editions Hall 3.1. offers a good orientation. Here one can listen to tips on colour schemes, the use of light and numerous furnishing ideas like proposals for bathroom design or the individual design of wallpapers.
A special highlight of every imm cologne is “Das Haus” – this time by the Australian designers Kate and Joel Booy, who have founded their studio Truly Truly in Rotterdam in 2014. The 180-square-metre simulated residential house in hall 3.1 displays their personal vision of contemporary living: a home almost without interior walls, with four zones merging into one another: Reclusive, Serene, Active and Reclining.
And a further house will be found at imm cologne in 2019: a Smart Home. Based on the technologies already available today, the possibilities of digitalisation in the kitchen and living area will be shown on an area of around 600 square metres. Besides safety, energy conservation and efficient household management, the Smart Home also deals with the positive influence that smart living can have on health, sleeping comfort, home aesthetics and living climate. The Smart Home is located in hall 4.1 at the area Future Technology.
Exclusive opportunity for design shopping
Those, who would also like to do some shopping in the face of this huge offer, and take a coveted design item home with them, have the opportunity to do so in Hall 1. Because once again this year the “Designers market by blickfang” invites them to a round of design shopping. Not well-known companies are represented here, but instead 100 young and independently operating design studios. The designers are often personally available at the stand. In this way, one can get to know the aspiring young entrepreneurs, get an insight into their working world – and buy everything one likes directly on the spot.
