It’s almost time: imm cologne opens its doors on 14 January and preparations are in full swing – and the same is true for “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage”. The installation is being held for the eighth time this year, and is one of the event highlights at imm cologne.
Each year, over an area of 180 square meters, a specially nominated designer presents their vision of the perfect home. From the architecture and the spatial structure to the furnishing, materials, colours and lighting installations, everything here is designed by the nominated creative(s). As a result, each year the installation presents anew the personal vision of a designer or a team of designers who turn their idea of an ideal home into reality – like a temporary total work of art.
Atmospheric design for Das Haus 2019
There still isn’t much to see of the design of Das Haus 2019, which is this year the work of the Rotterdam-based Australian designer couple Kate and Joel Booy (Studio Truly Truly). However, the round architecture, the mustard room dividers and the yellow tiles in the kitchen area hint at the young designer couple’s living concept: an organic and flowing feel, while keeping things modern, subtle and stylish.
With soft, warm materials, sensual colour concepts, matt rather than glossy surfaces, and furniture with a special character, Joel and Kate Booy are seeking to create a living space in which the boundaries between work and home environments are fluid. The space and the activity are chosen depending on mood.
It will be interesting to see the end result, the total work of art produced by the designer couple Studio Truly Truly. Clad in fabric, it invites visitors in with glimpses through its soft, partially opened shell.
