LE KLINT CARRONADE

The lamp series CARRONADE, made in cooperation with  talented young Swedish designer Markus Johansson…

CEO, Kim Weckstrøm Jensen, quickly spotted the potential of young Swedish designer Markus Johansson, when they first met at the Furniture and Design Fair in Milan . This meeting has resulted in the joint venture of lamp series CARRONADE, which is this season´s main news.

CARRONADE is more than gunpowder and cannonballs

It is not difficult to see how Designer Markus Johansson, drew inspiration from 17th century ship cannons, as he created the lamp series CARRONADE. He has transformed gunpowder and cannonballs into modern lighting technology in synch with 21st century contemporary and Nordic lighting designs.

The complete series is based on an idea of a small table lamp with a distinctive yet playful and challenging shape, of a small cannon.

 A complete lamp series!

The collection consists of five versions: a high floor lamp, two spot-pendants, a low floor lamp and a multifunctional table/wall lamp and a large pendant.

We have great expectations in seeing this beautiful design becoming a timeless classic.

“One of the first days after I started at LE KLINT in 1998, I saw samples of the Plica shapes. The Plica technique was a long forgotten form of production that was extremely difficult to master. I loved the curved pleating and over the years I have been waiting for the right oppurtunity to revive the Plica. However it was never interesting to reintroduce the old models – it needed a twist – new eyes.

I am very pleased and happy that we now have revived this secret production technique and in cooperation with Takagi & Homstvedt we launch this beautiful timeless new design Lamella.”

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The LAMELLA lighting collection is inspired by the delicate pleats on the underside of mushroom caps, commonly known as lamella. This formal pleated structure when paired with a soft yet concise silhouette drives the design of this lighting family. Working closely with the esteemed Danish lighting manufacturer Le Klint, they were able to resurrect and reimagine a long lost technique from their archives to realize our design.

LE KLINT - THE BOUQUET

A Bouquet of Flowers - unfolds

Sinja Svarrer Damkjær’s 2007 remake, inspired by spring flowers, is the latest launch, as a new line of lighting from LE KLINT. The original Bouquet Chandelier idea came to Sinja, while she was on a study trip in Italy. The Bouquet is a symbolic memory of the designer’s observation while watching, flower handlers in an Italian market.

Sinja became fascinated as she watched how, as tulip bundles, were being loosely tied, the beautiful blossoming flower heads would then automatically hang downwards, then sway and bend creating a natural soft curve.

Meticulous braiding meets natural flora

These modern Chandeliers suspend from a braided linen cord that highlights the organic tone of the design. Re-sized pendant shades in bundles of three, five and seven have been intricately pleated into precise and pristine pleating, by hand. The pendants suspend from a braided linen cord to enhance the organic tone of the design and emphasize the soft expression of how flower petals unfold in springtime.

Rustic detail

The lampshades feature a small oak wood detail at the top of each shade where the wires goes up into a braid. The wires coated with a natural rustic linen texture have been hand braided by pleating technicians at LE KLINT. This braiding feature helps with re-arranging the lampshades to get a desired bouquet effect that suits your environment.
