The format: “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” and its designers
“Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” is the large-scale installation of a living situation based on the very personal ideas of an internationally influential designer or designteam who changes every year. The spectacular design project is half visionary, walk-in house simulation, half designer portrait. Following London design team Doshi Levien’s successful launch of the imm cologne’s new design event at the imm cologne 2012, it is continued yearly.
For seven days in January every year, it’s constructed from scratch, painted and lovingly furnished, visited by thousands, discussed and photographed. The simulated interior in Cologne – a combination of architecture, interior design and furnishings – gives a designer or design team the opportunity to make their own personal statement on contemporary living. In a wide-ranging variety of styles – from minimalist to extravagant, from matter-of-fact to sensuous – the installation blends current trends and products into a finely tuned interior design.
