A brief profile of the international furniture and interiors fair imm cologne 2019

imm cologne is both a business platform and a hotspot for trendsetters. At the beginning of every year, the international furniture and interiors fair in Cologne shows how we’ll be living in the future. Not just tomorrow or in the coming season, but beyond. Because at imm cologne, trade visitors and consumers get to see not just the next season’s furniture, lighting, home textiles and colours but avant-garde designs by talented youngsters, smart home solutions and visionary interior concepts by the stars of the design scene as well. From 14 to 20 January 2019, trend scouts in search of progressive design experiments and dealers who want to survey the design that’s been selected for market will find everything they’re looking for in accessible form at the Cologne showcase. This is where the B2B sector gets together, where designers meet manufacturers and trade meets inspiration.

Nowhere else can visitors find such a comprehensive offering presented in such compact and well-structured form. The trade fair is expecting around 1,300 exhibitors, more than 70% of whom will be coming from outside Germany. And because the two-yearly LivingKitchen event will be held parallel to the imm cologne again in 2019, the dual fair leaves nothing to be desired in the way of interior inspiration. The three public days at the weekend are particularly popular.

The fair’s eleven halls reflect the full diversity of interior styles and product ranges available on the market: from the elegant lifestyle brands and on-trend design labels featured in the design-oriented interior worlds of Pure and Pure Editions all the way to the intelligent solutions for young, trend-conscious interiors that are showcased in the Smart section of the show. But the variety doesn’t end there: Prime presents the interior world of classic furniture for every area of the home, while Comfort covers the entire spectrum of upholstered seating. In the Sleep hall, visitors can study the functionality and aesthetic qualities of furniture designed for a good night’s rest. And Global Lifestyles will take them on a journey through internationally attractive markets. The decorative lighting, home textiles and accessories on show are guaranteed to create an appetite for furnishings and interior design.

Design from all over the world comes together in Cologne. While hip design labels stage their direction-setting installations in Pure Editions, the large-scale presentations of premium brands on show in the newly designed Pure Atmospheres hall invite visitors to immerse themselves in complete and extremely elegant interior worlds. The simulated interior on show in the Das Haus installation provides a whole new perspective on what home can be like: every year, different designers create a miniature synthesis of the arts covering 180 square metres – and every year the result is entirely different. In 2019, Rotterdam-based studio Truly Truly will be presenting a flowing, organic interior entitled "Living by Moods" Then there’s The Stage, a forum that presents a world-class lecture programme as well as interior design tips with broad-based appeal. And wherever you look, trend installations and lounges invite visitors to stop, take a look and relax. imm cologne brings the world of interior design together. imm cologne brings the world of interior design together.
