LivingKitchen 2019: the event continues to expand - Ballerina Küchen among the companies returning to Cologne

LivingKitchen is well on track for its fifth edition in 2019, despite some challenging conditions. Following its strong performance in 2017, when LivingKitchen attracted around 150,000 visitors from all over the world, there is growing interest from potential exhibitors in a powerful trade fair platform in Germany, with particularly strong interest from outside Germany. The event’s exceptionally successful business mix plays a key role in establishing Cologne as the place where the world trades with Germany. And increasingly, the world meets the world at LivingKitchen. Registrations currently total 135 companies from 21 countries, with 51 of the registered companies coming from Germany.

The German kitchen furniture industry is strongly represented, with names such as Nobilia, Schüller and Alno exhibiting. Ballerina Küchen has recently decided to join their ranks and exhibit in Cologne. It is leading the way for the member companies of the A30 Kitchen Mile marketing association (A30 Küchenmeile e.V.): “Ballerina kitchens are marketed in 29 countries, with exports accounting for 50% of sales. German kitchens are highly regarded worldwide. In our view, it is only natural for an industry that sees itself as a global market leader to have a leading trade fair in its own country. This is why we are pleased to confirm our attendance at LivingKitchen 2019, and we are looking forward to meeting many visitors from Germany and other countries,” says Managing Director Heidrun Brinkmeyer.

In the international field, LivingKitchen also has some notable names in its line-up with companies such as Valcucine, Team7 and first-time exhibitor Lube Industries (Italy). The organisers expect to see further growth from foreign companies. They have received enquiries from Italy, Scandinavia, Turkey and eastern Europe.

In the field of built-in appliances and accessories, concrete plans are in place to attract further international market leaders to the trade fair in addition to the companies that have already registered, such as Blanco, Bora, Vestel, Sharp and Berbel. “In the remaining ten months, we will be talking to many very interested companies, some of which are foreign companies that want to launch in the German and European markets from Cologne. I therefore firmly believe that we will pass the 200-companies mark by the end of 2018,” says Matthias Pollmann, Vice President Trade Fair Management.

Alongside the realignment of the event’s content, internationalisation is currently the top priority. “From our discussions with companies, we know that an international audience of visitors is something that they absolutely want to see,” says Matthias Pollmann. “We are definitely on the right path here, but there is clearly room for faster growth. We have already achieved significant international reach, with one in two trade visitors at imm cologne/LivingKitchen coming from outside Germany in 2017, and this is something that we need to enable exhibitors to experience more directly,” he adds. With this goal in mind, Koelnmesse is publishing a special programme in 2018 to significantly expand its marketing to foreign visitors.
