Das Haus - Interiors on Stage 2012
Starting in 2012, the international interior design fair imm cologne will again be hosting a major design event: “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage”. The project focuses on the design of an artificial living situation within the trade fair – public and yet very personal living space designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. The London-based design team will be kicking off the new format in January 2012. “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” will show a structure created entirely in accordance with the guest designer’s ideas – architectural elements, interior and outdoor space – as well as arrangements of furniture and furnishing elements for an individually configured interior design. In the middle of the Pure Village hall, the trade fair will erect an approx. 180 m² platform to serve as an open stage for the project. “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” is thus both a designer portrait and a visionary blueprint, an example of how it is possible to create a world of one’s own that becomes an expression of one’s own personality.
[D3] CONTEST 2012
The international young talents competition D3 Contest has developed into an established feature for both trade visitors and exhibitors at imm cologne. D3 Contest 2012 offers for the ninths time young designers a forum in which to present to an international public their ideas for furniture, lighting and furnishings of the future. This year 689 products from 44 countries were submitted to the competition. The best 28 pieces of 32 designers are to be displayed in an exhibition at imm cologne 2012.
Trends and Design 2012
In the course of the sustainability debate, even designers are amongst those who are questioning the market’s usual practice of developing new products every single year – often, it would seem, purely for the sake of their novelty value. In view of furniture’s ever-shorter lifecycles, especially in the low price segment, this criticism is no doubt legitimate. What we need is a discourse about the interaction between interior and consumer culture, between market constraints and supply policies, between trend orientation and quality.
Trends and Design 2011 (Special Edition)
In January, the imm cologne will be opening the new furniture season again with a comprehensive range of new products from all areas of interior design. Brandname manufacturers and designers from all over the world will be presenting their collections and ideas for furniture, lighting and carpets. Year after year, the Cologne fair manages to show not just a limited selection but the full diversity of the interior design worlds.
Trendbook - Interior Trends 2011
Koelnmesse’s Trend Book “Interior Trends 2011” is not only about consumers’ aspirations but about the designers’ perspectives too: Where do their preferences lie, how do they see the future, how do they perceive the environment, what approaches do they pursue in their designs?
Cologne – Design and Lifestyle 2010
Cologne is well worth a trip. And even though the cathedral city shows its true character in summer, when Colognians throng to the banks of the Rhine and the parks, the countless street cafés, promenades and beer gardens, even the cold season has its charm in this hub of culture and design.
Trends and Design 2010 (Special Edition)
At present we are inclined to question everything which, for decades, we had regarded as a safe bank for our affluent society: first and foremost, of course, the global financial sector, but also the principles of growth and consumption and the ever-faster merry-go-round of innovations
Business by Design
Far from merely meeting demand, the furniture industry makes its money by satisfying a host of very different needs – from modular sofas and eat-in kitchens all the way to home offices and wellness mattresses.
Trendbook – Interior Trends 2010
Anybody who thinks people’s interest in design or the way their living room looks is waning in the face of the current threats to their lifestyle or the debate about society’s values and economic systems should think again.
Trends and Design 2009
Why is it that people are so keen to talk about trends as soon as the subject of furniture and interior design comes up? True, like fashion, this sector is also concerned with beautiful things, with the products of a creative industry whose innovations are impatiently awaited: original variations of the familiar that exude a particular attraction.
Design in Spain – imm cologne 2009
Spain – an important partner country for the imm cologne that can always be relied on to come up with a surprise or two. Spanish designers seem to produce a great many unusual ideas, regardless of whether they work in Spain itself like Jaime Hayón, Ximo Roca and J.M. Ferrero or have their operating base in the international market like the El último grito group in Berlin or Patricia Urquiola in Milan.
Trend Book - Interior Trends 2009
In the run-up to the imm cologne, Koelnmesse‘s Trend Book “Interior Trends 2009” shows which consumer needs the industry will be encountering in the coming season.
Design in Germany – imm cologne 2009
The second issue of our content folders on design to be published in the run-up to the imm cologne 2009 is dedicated to German design, the vast spectrum of which also shapes the imm cologne.
