Das Haus - Interiors on stage
The reason modernist architecture is so topical again today is that – perhaps for the first time ever – it is compatible with many people’s desire for open living spaces, a more flexible organisation of their lives and aesthetics with a bearing on the present.
This is also the case with the new design event at the international interior design fair: “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage”, an individual, lively home with cultural echoes. A house that permits privacy and publicness, that connects the kitchen, eating and working zones, family and friends, areas of retreat and shared wellness experiences in an individual way.
Interior Innovation Award
2012 the Interior Innovation Award celebrates its 10th anniversary and thus counts to one of the traditional events of the imm cologne. After the opening of the competition for all companies in the interior sector, also for the upcoming imm cologne excellent innovations and good designs will be honoured with the sought-after award by the international appreciated jury. Partner and organizer of the competition is the German Design Council.
Boulevard of Innovations
The competitive exhibition of all honoured products will take place in an extensive special show in Hall 4.2. Get a general idea of the latest developments of the world of interior design.
Cologne Design Night
Highlight in the first few days of the exhibition 2012 will again take place in the shadow of Cologne Cathedral. At the Cologne Design Night on Monday, 16 January 2012, not only the 'Best of Best' of the Interior Innovation Award will be honoured, but also the ‘Who is Who’ of the international furniture sector will meet for the best party at the furniture exhibition week.
Sleep lounge
Considering the fact that up to 70 % of the buying decisions from end customers are made at the Point of Sale (POS), this year the "Fachverband Matratzenindustrie e.V." shows five different types of sales room design at its lounge.
Once again the "Fachverband" warmly invites the exhibitors an visitors to the meet@sleep Party on Tuesday 17.
Agents' Services
Trade representatives who are looking for sales partners could address on-site imm cologne 2012 at the CDH - Centralvereinigung Deutscher Wirtschaftsverbände für Handelsvermittlung und Vertrieb e.V.. The CDH was present at the linkway between the halls 10 and 11.
ZUHAUSE WOHNEN theatre of living
With numerous examples of furnishing for the living area with lounge character, children’s- bedroom and dining room, up to leisure time- and hobby corner it will be shown live, how it’s done.
Here you can see regular theatre of improvisation daily from 11:00 a.m. - including 5:00 p.m. every full hour for 15 minutes.
Architectural tours
In 2012, imm cologne offers exciting tours for visitors interested in architecture and urban architecture. Like last year the offer is manifold.
Russian House
Visitors from Russia and the former GUS countries were invited to the "Russian House" which opens its doors on all days of imm cologne 2012. The lounge in the Congress Centre East at level 2 welcomed all those who will have good business talks - and also intended to join the special "Round Table" with important dirstributors and manifacturers on January 17th.

Behind the scene look - speaking tour program and business seminar
During imm cologne 2012, we were offering a special tour program in English that provided international visitors a "behind the scene look" related to design ideas / trends and the business end of furnishing design. The program was geared towards international designers, decorators, architects and furnishing buyers who want to stay on top of cutting-edge trends, furniture styles and design ideas. Participants of this program could gain valuable insights and make new contacts.

Joining the German Market - Looking for agents
Targeting specialist visitors from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, a special seminar will be held informing about the possibilities to find agents when joining the German market. The seminar is organized by the German-Slovenian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in cooperation with the CDH - National Association of German Commercial Agencies and Distribution.
